There will be an increase in device usage among local organisations, says AppSense's Niall Moynihan.

The combination of new operating systems, new devices and the ever increasing importance of data means workflows will change.

So said Niall Moynihan, AppSense's country manager for SA, in an interview with ITWeb. AppSense, which recently entered the South African market, is a provider of user virtualisation technologies. The company is headquartered in the UK, with offices around the world.

By 2014, Moynihan said, most South African companies would have started migrating to Windows 7 and 8 at a phenomenal rate, with the majority being installed on fat client PCs.

"People will start to work differently, leading to an increasingly important emphasis on managing the user," he said.

"AppSense invested in local people and resources in 2012 to bring AppSense to a wider audience in SA. The company works with customers to reduce IT complexity and enable enterprise consumerisation with independent management of the user experience across all mobile devices and desktops."

He also explained that user virtualisation improves the deployment, management and migration of multi-platform desktop and mobile environments.

Moynihan believes there will also be an increase in device usage among local organisations in 2014.

"iPad 3 and Windows tablets will steal some of the market, while new Windows-based devices will enter as well," he explained.

Describing AppSense's target market in SA, Moynihan said the company supports organisations of any size.

However, he said, traditionally, AppSense supports large, commercial and public sector organisations that experience complexity around the desktop.

"AppSense has had enormous success within the finance and insurance industries, education, healthcare, and the retail and manufacturing sectors. Now with an expanded set of mobile solutions, AppSense is supporting mid-market organisations managing mobile workforces," he added.

Moynihan also revealed that much of AppSense's success in SA can be attributed to its talented partner community, adding the company will continue to build relationships in the channel to promote AppSense User Virtualisation to all businesses.

"AppSense Certified Solution partners are talented organisations with the capacity to both recognise the commercial opportunities of user virtualisation within an organisation as well as having the technical expertise to deliver in enterprise-sized IT environments.

"Our partner community, therefore, encompasses a small number of specialist partners and system integrators with the necessary skills and capabilities."

He also noted that AppSense has strategic relationships with Microsoft, Citrix and Cisco around the globe, and will continue to drive those relationships in SA.
