Network security solutions vendor, Cyberoam has extended its range of unified threat management (UTM) solutions with the introduction of a range of virtual UTM appliances.
The company says, with this release, organisations will be able to take control of their security infrastructures by giving them the ability to choose between individual and a mix of physical and virtualised environments, without worrying about their network security.
The vendor adds that managed services providers (MSPs) managing the security of various customers face different deployment scenarios that have different virtualisation platforms.
Cyberoam virtual UTM offers MSPs control of their security infrastructures with support for multiple virtualisation platforms like VMware and Hyper-V, says the company.
With its easy licensing policy, and model and subscription upgrades, says Cyberoam, the solution addresses MSPs' challenge of scaling-up network infrastructure to meet customer needs.
With the unveiling of virtual UTM for comprehensive network security in virtualised environments, it adds, MSPs can now offer a total virtual security solution to customers with the virtual Cyberoam Central Console for centralised security management, and Cyberoam iView software for logging and reporting.
According to Cyberoam, its virtual UTM appliances also secure 'Office-in-a-Box' and BYOD networks that need to support multiple devices brought in by employees to access the network resources across a range of operating systems and geographies.
These devices - specifically employees' personal devices - lack security, thereby increasing the risk of security threats in virtualised networks, it says.
It adds that the virtual UTMs also secure virtual data centres that are constantly under pressure to generate more computing power out of existing server infrastructure.
Abhilash Sonwane, senior VP for product management at Cyberoam, says: "Cyberoam virtual UTMs offer security to virtual data centres; Layer 8 identity-based security to 'Office-in-a-Box' set-ups; and support for multiple virtualisation platforms with easy scalability to 'Security-in-a-Box' set-ups for MSPs or enterprises.
"The licensing model gives flexibility to allot the number of vCPUs for Cyberoam virtual UTM as required by organisations. This, along with Cyberoam's support for multiple virtual platforms and simple upgrade to higher virtual UTM models, offers full control of security infrastructure to organisations," Sonwane concludes.
