Online trading platform, Cambist was able to go live within a month, by relying on the cloud.

The service was established by OneLaw, a debt-collection service provider, to enable users to track their portfolios, and to trade active debt contracts. "Cambist is a completely new concept - it's never been done before in SA," says systems officer, Hilda Steyn.

The extremely fast launch was enabled by building and running its business applications in the cloud, says Steyn.

"We needed top-class technology, a high level of security and a great user experience," she explains. "Many of our customers are not computer experts and we wanted to offer them a platform that would be easy and reliable to use. Since they live all over the world and the platform is being used 24/7, we also needed very high levels of uptime."

"We wanted a world-class platform that could be used easily by anyone, anywhere in the world, and a strong partnership with a software development company that could support our vision," she adds.

The Cambist team decided on a cloud-based system early in the game, says Steyn, which allowed everything to move very quickly. To build the systems foundations, OneLaw approached cloud provider, Framework One.

"We were able to go live with the user front-end within a month," Steyn says. "The system automatically generates all the legal documents required, and manages the reconciliation between bank payments and transactions on the platform."

Although the system is already live, the work is not yet over, she adds: "We are continuing to add and change functionality to enhance the system."
