BetTech Gaming will supply its flagship BetTech Sports product to Krugerbets.com.

BetTech, a provider of technology solutions to gaming companies, will completely refresh Krugerbets.com, improving its functionality and adding an optimised mobile betting experience.

According to Krugerbets.com, which is operated by SA's Kruger Racing, feature phones are more prevalent in SA, making a mobile offering essential. "With BetTech's mobile product, we offer a mobile Web experience that allows access to Krugerbets.com to millions of feature phone users, rather than solely going for the much smaller smartphone market. This way, we cater for thousands of devices," says GM Craig Swan.

Swan explains that South African law allows licensed bookmakers to offer online gambling in the form of fixed odds betting on horse racing and sport, which is what Krugerbets.com offers.

"What South African law does not allow at present is online casino games like poker, blackjack, roulette and gambling machines. These casino games at present are not part of our business, so we are firmly compliant with the regulations," adds Swan.

Cape Town-based BetTech boosted the range of sports and markets it catered for, including full pools and fixed-odds wagering on all South African and European racing fixtures, as well as opportunities for in-play betting.

BetTech says the new Krugerbets.com products have been launched to help Kruger Racing satisfy the growing demand in SA for online and mobile sports betting - the main drivers behind the country's expanding gambling industry.

Government figures predict overall domestic betting turnover will increase from R17.7 billion in 2012 to R24.2 billion in 2016.

"South Africans have an affinity to gambling and taking a chance, be it in the casinos, on the Lotto, or with your local bookmaker. However, what I think is happening in the bookmaking industry is that there is a big shift from betting on the traditional sport - being horse racing - to customers betting on other major sporting events, like soccer, rugby and cricket matches, or golf tournaments, etc," Swan says.

With its head office in Durban, Kruger Racing has 11 betting shops throughout the KZN region. "When we decided to re-launch Krugerbets.com, BetTech was the standout choice of partner. Integration was quick and painless; we were able to customise the product at every step of the way, and are delighted with the results," says Swan.

"BetTech's product allows Kruberbets.com to offer fantastic prices on all major horse and sporting events around the world, not to mention the vast array of in-running bets available on various sporting fixtures. Service to our customers is of paramount importance, and we strive to allow them to make transactions using our online site, seamlessly and effortlessly, through a combination of our helpful staff as well as BetTech's user-friendly Web and mobile platform," Swan added.

"We are witnessing firsthand how the online sports betting market is booming in South Africa," concludes BetTech gaming GM Anli Kotz'e. "The growth has fuelled player expectations, and Krugerbets.com is now in a better position to satisfy the demand and complement its offline offering, particularly when it comes to mobile and in-play."
