Local Internet service provider (ISP) XDSL is offering customers who take a full cabinet in its Centurion data centre 2Mbps Internet connectivity at no cost.

According to XDSL director Danie Fourie, all the ISP's current and new fibre broadband customers will receive additional Internet connectivity out of the data centre to complement the Internet service at the head offices that they subscribe to.

XDSL's Centurion data centre offers carrier-neutral colocation services. Established in 2002, the ISP has a national fibre network incorporating the networks of major carriers. It also offers high-capacity connectivity via the West Africa Cable System - the 14 000km, 5.12Tbps subsea fibre-optic cable launched in May 2012.

The ISP expanded its existing 200m^2 data centre by 600m^2 in September last year. At the time, XDSL said the expansion would enable it to broaden its service offering in the network and infrastructure space.

XDSL provides access links through its data centre to ADSL, Diginet, 3G, satellite, microwave and fibre.
