A document from South Korean brokerage KDB Daewoo Securities has revealed alleged specifications for the new iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5.

In what is being touted as one of the biggest leaks in smartphone history, a South Korean analyst has published the purported specifications of two of the most anticipated new releases - Apple's iPhone 6 and Samsung's Galaxy S5.

US-based mobile and consumer electronics news site Boy Genius Report (BGR) this week reported that a document outlining details of what is claimed to be Apple's new iPhone 6, and a phablet-sized iPhone (with the same specifications), as well as Samsung's new Galaxy, the S5, had been published online.

BGR says while various Galaxy S5 reports doing the rounds are less sound, the latest "leak" comes from a "rather convincing source".

The copy of the document, released by South Korean brokerage KDB Daewoo Securities, is in Korean, but a table on page six of the analysis gives a good idea of what is expected from the two new high-end rival phones.

Suspected specs

If the document is accurate, the Samsung S5 will be powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon chipset, or a 2GHz Octa-core Exynos (64-bit). The new iPhone, it indicates, will feature an Apple A8 64-bit processor.

KDB indicates Samsung's new top phone will support LTE Advanced (in countries where it is available), while the new iPhone will not. The Galaxy S5 will run on Android 4.4 KitKat, and the iPhone 6 will run on IOS 7.2, indicates the document.

According to BGR, the Korean firm says the Galaxy S5 version it has detailed will be the first flagship phone from Samsung to have an all-metal case.

The document puts the launch period for the new Galaxy at either quarter one or quarter two of this year, and the new iPhone at either quarter two or three. A Reuters report yesterday said the new Samsung phone would be introduced this month.
