Telkom has announced the appointment of Ouma Rasethaba as chief risk officer with immediate effect.

Rasethaba, who has been with Telkom since 2006, previously held the position of chief of regulatory and corporate affairs.

Telkom says the appointment completes the executive committee structure under CEO Sipho Maseko.

Maseko says Rasethaba has not always had an easy task in her former roles, "especially when one considers the complexity of the legal matters Telkom has had to deal with, as well as the fluidity of the regulatory environment".

Telkom says, as chief risk officer, Rasethaba will be responsible for the overall control of Telkom's risk management processes - the identification, assessment and response to those risks that influence Telkom achieving its objectives.

Maseko says she will also, as she's done in the past, lead the team from legal services, which includes managing the implementation of good corporate governance principles.

Rasethaba says she looks forward to finding workable solutions to the challenges Telkom faces.
