Dimension Data in partnership with Tiger Brands

Johannesburg, 11 Feb 2002

London Stock Exchange-listed Dimension Data and fast-moving consumer goods company Tiger Brands have entered into a strategic IT partnership.

Tiger Brands, which has food and healthcare operations, has annual turnover of more than R18 billion.

In terms of the arrangement Dimension Data will provide Tiger Brands` corporate, food and healthcare operations with managed services and solutions.

Tiger Brands CE Nick Dennis says Tiger wanted access to a world-class skills base that would support it in its mission to build a leading branded consumer business through the provision of integrated systems, while controlling the escalation of costs.

Dimension Data`s business model - which offers integrated solutions and services - best suited the company`s requirements and its objective to use IT to get closer to its customer base, he adds.

The decision to form an alliance with Dimension Data, in line with Tiger`s strategy of outsourcing non-core operations, was influenced by the need to enter into a strategic relationship with a global IT company to cope with the rapid rate of change in technology, manage the risk of the projected shortage of skilled IT staff in Southern Africa, and contain ongoing IT investment costs.

Dimension Data SA CEO Allan Cawood says the deal represents another significant win for Dimension Data`s TeamSource strategic initiative, which focuses on providing integrated services across the group`s offerings.
