Nvidia goes 3D

Visual computing technology company Nvidia has unveiled the first mainstream 3D gaming technology, says Reuters.

With Hollywood migrating to 3D for event movies like "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" and next year's "Avatar", from James Cameron, the electronics and gaming industries have created new technology that lets home systems and PCs also deliver true 3D.

This technology uses clear 3D glasses similar to those used at an IMAX theatre.

Gillette, EA Sports partner

Gillette has teamed up with EA Sports in a push to expand its sports marketing into video gaming in a major way, says IHT.

Golfer Tiger Woods, a veteran of marketing for both businesses, helped tee off the new partnership as part of an upcoming global online sports games competition that gives winners a chance to play head-to-head against real-life sports stars.

Gillette and EA Sports officials say the partnership will include joint retail promotions, print and TV advertising, and a heavy online presence.

Canadians get gaming

Nine of 10 Canadian households now have computers, and four of 10 have some sort of video game console, according to new statistics from the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, according to Canada.com.

The new stats show that seven of 10 Canadians aged 18 to 34 say they've played some video game in the past month.

Of them, 34% say they play video games every day, for an average of 7.1 hours per week.
