Axiz offers ultimate in data lockdown

Johannesburg, 17 Sep 2008

The new, ultra-secure DataTraveler BlackBox USB Flash, from Axiz, is Kingston's first Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS)-validated drive. It features 256-bit, hardware-based AES encryption, enforced complex password protection and device lockdown after a specified number of invalid attempts, to prevent brute force attacks.

Gail Kruger, Kingston Flash Product Manager at Axiz, says the FIPS certification, along with other enhanced security features, makes the DT BlackBox an ideal way to store and transport confidential documents with the utmost confidence that the data is secure. The FIPS Level 2 standard requires the DT BlackBox to run a power-on self-test, which verifies that the encryption architecture is functioning each time it is plugged into a USB port.

"It is the perfect device to protect your organisation's portable data and comply with data-at-rest agency directives. More specifically, you'll find 256-bit hardware-based AES encryption via a dedicated processor, which automatically encrypts and decrypts data, and it will also enter lockdown mode if you should forget your password 10 consecutive times."

Available in 2GB, 4GB and 8GB, the DT BlackBox is rugged and waterproof (up to 1.2 metres), with a titanium-coated, stainless steel casing for added data protection. And, it's easy to set up and use, with no administrative rights or application installation required.

Other features and benefits include:

* Fast. Data transfer rates of up to 24MB/sec read and up to 20MB/sec.
* Customisable. Preload content, password length, maximum number of password attempts.
* Co-logo available. Add your company's logo to increase brand recognition.
* Tamper evident. Tamper-evident coating/seal for physical security.

With top-notch data security a top priority for most corporate and government operations, Kruger says it is not surprising that these sectors have already shown a tremendous interest in the DT BlackBox.

Recommended retail price ranges from R1 679 (incl Vat). For more information: Gail Kruger, Product Manager: Kingston Flash. Tel: 011 237-7230. E-mail: gailk@axiz.co.za. Web site: www.axiz.com.
