Sony appoints PartServe as sole PlayStation repair agent for southern Africa

Johannesburg, 29 Oct 2008

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe in conjunction with Ster Kinekor has signed an agreement with PartServe Channel Support to do all its product warranties. PartServe will now be handling the exchange program for all PlayStation consoles throughout southern Africa.

According to Ster Kinekor Logistic Executive Robin Serebro, Sony and Ster Kinekor have been looking for a service partner in southern Africa for a long time. “We required a repair partner that was established in the local market and also one that is as stable as PartServe and one that represents top brands.”

PartServe has invested in establishing a dust-free repair environment and plans to build a laboratory for high level repairs. As part of the agreement, PartServe will be expanding its Sony PlayStation repair skills throughout the region. A senior technician has already been trained in London on the repairing of PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable.

PartServe Channel Support director Lee Bowes says PartServe has now officially become the preferred provider of warranty management services for most leading brands in southern Africa including Epson, Canon, Brother, ViewSonic and Zebra. “Our agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe now officially endorses our leading position in the market. It enables PartServe to offer a carry-in warranty on all Sony PlayStation products around the country including Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Bloemfontein.”

“If the PlayStation console is faulty within the first 30 days of purchase, the console plus accessories may be exchanged at the retailer at which the PlayStation was purchased, on condition that there is proof of purchase, a complete unit including the console and other accessories and it is packaged in the original box. After the first 30 days and within 12 months of purchase, the console will be exchanged by PartServe at no cost. Out-of-warranty consoles will be repaired at a nominal fee,” he explains.

PartServe has a dedicated customer care line - 0861 773 783 - for PlayStation which will fulfil all technical related queries.
