SurfControl introduces enterprise content filtering for Cisco content engine

SurfControl, the world`s number one Web and e-mail filtering company, today announced SurfControl Web Filter for Cisco Content Engine running the Cisco Application and Content Networking System (ACNS), an integrated security solution that helps enterprise IT professionals better manage the content security risks associated with employee Internet access.

In companies worldwide, high-speed access to the Web has become business-critical. However, this access brings significant content security risks. Employee activities such as the downloading of streaming media, recreational Web surfing and confidential information leakage pose serious productivity and legal liability threats that can tarnish a company`s reputation and hurt their bottom line.

SurfControl Web Filter for Cisco Content Engine running ACNS eliminates the risks by providing visibility and control over employee Internet access.

"The Internet is a business necessity, but unrestricted access poses many risks and can be extremely costly," said Wayne Bird, director at Networks Unlimited.

"By teaming up with Cisco, SurfControl provides the enterprise market with a powerful content security solution that will help increase employee productivity, reduce legal liability and efficiently manage employee Internet use."

SurfControl Web Filter for Cisco Content Engine running ACNS is a total content security solution that gives customers access to a database of more than 6 million sites in 40 well-organised categories and in more than 65 languages.

The SurfControl Content Database, the industry`s premier database, is regularly updated and seamlessly integrated for real-time protection. Easy to read reports outline Internet usage in convenient formats to give IT managers a detailed view of employee activities and threats to the network.

SurfControl Web Filter for Cisco Content Engine running ACNS utilises the Internet Content Adaptability Protocol (ICAP), an open standards protocol designed to offload Internet-based content analysis. The combination of SurfControl Web Filter for Cisco Content Engine with ICAP provides an out-of-the-box, integrated solution for more efficient and secure Web access.

SurfControl is currently a member of the Cisco AVVID (Architecture for Voice and Video Integrated Data) Partner Program, an interoperability testing and co-marketing program enabling leading product and services firms to deploy innovative e-business solutions. As a Cisco AVVID partner, SurfControl offers its Web and E-mail filtering products to a broader base of enterprise, government and education customers and provides a total secure content management solution to help control spam, strengthen network security and better manage Internet access.
