Cisco unveils new product

Cisco has unveiled its Internet Protocol Services Gateway (Model DRG2800), which is designed to expand consumers' entertainment and personal content choices as well as bring network-based and home-based applications together in one device, says FOX News.

With this product, consumers can use their set-top and large-screen, flat-panel televisions to watch videos, listen to downloaded music in surround sound, and view photos accessed from their PC.

The Cisco IP Services Gateway provides consumers with a single device that easily connects to the in-home personal computer via Ethernet, and to a digital set-top using coax cable.

Netgear wins awards

The Netgear Powerline HD Plus Ethernet Adapter (HDX111) has won the prestigious Best of Innovations Award in the Innovations 2008 Design and Engineering Awards programme, reports FOX News.

The HDX111 was selected as the top product in the home networking category based on criteria that included outstanding engineering and design qualities, unique and novel features, user value, and contributions to consumers' quality of life.

Five additional Netgear products were named as honourees in the home networking category, including the HD/Gaming 5GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit, Pre-DOCSIS 3.0 Wireless Cable Voice Gateway, ReadyNAS Duo 2-Bay Gigabit Desktop Network Storage, ReadyNAS Pro 6-Bay Gigabit Desktop Network Storage, and Space Saving Powerline Network Extender Kit.

Spring Air selects Qwest

Qwest Communications has signed a two-year agreement with The Spring Air Company, one of the world's largest bedding manufacturers, states FOX News

Headquartered in Chicago, Spring Air will use Qwest's advanced networking technology to better link the company's manufacturing facilities.

Under the terms of the contract, Qwest will connect 12 manufacturing sites using Qwest iQ Networking services, a wide area network solution based on multi-protocol label switching technology, and be Spring Air's primary e-mail and data network provider.
