In a move that aims to grow the company's market share in the consumer electronics, mid-range portable and network-attached storage market, Iomega have appointed Comztek as a national distributor.
Michelle Kasselman, key account manager for Iomega Corporation in South Africa, says with more of the company's R&D focussing on portable hard drive products with greater storage capacities as well as high end networking products, Comztek, with their extensive distribution experience in the networking channel, are the ideal partner to drive this expansion in South Africa.
"Also, with Iomega aggressively expanding into the networking channel with our high end Network Attached Storage (NAS) range, we have identified Comztek as a strategic partner best suited to grow our share in that particular market segment," says Kasselman.
Heinz Stephan, director of consumer electronics at Comztek, says as one of the leading brands in portable storage and backup devices, Iomega fits in perfectly with the rest of the distributor's blue chip product mix.
"The partnership with Iomega puts us in a unique position to offer our customers true end-to-end solutions in the consumer electronics market," he says. "The core focus for Comztek in the next twelve months will be to promote Iomega's NAS product line while continuing to service the portable storage and backup device markets."
While Iomega will benefit from Comztek's wide distribution footprint spanning all of South Africa and several other regions within the continent, Stephan says the relationship also extends Comztek's reach into the mid-range portable and network-attached storage market.
"There is also a great deal of synergy between our two organisations in respect of service and support, where Comztek will have immediate access to all Iomega's international and online support," adds Kasselman. "Comztek will also honour all Iomega warrantee conditions, including an immediate swap out on all products."
