QUICK Q & A

Simon Cambell-Young, CEO at Phoenix Software
Q: What you see as being the biggest trend in the ICT security sector in 2012?

A: Personal identity theft - the world of technology in general, and identity theft in particular, is constantly changing. This constant change is attracting more cybercriminals than ever who are targeting new opportunities including social media, viruses and spyware, and credit and debit card skimming.

We can expect to see cybercriminals accessing email accounts and sending phishing spam from them to all of the contacts.

Also, identity thieves stealing ID numbers to open bank, credit card, cell phone and utility accounts without the person's knowledge.

Finally, cybercriminals stealing online credentials to steal money from checking/savings accounts.

Q: Why did choose a career in ICT?

A: Tech is king. The pace is exciting. Not only does technology help drive our economy and also employ many people, but new technology is getting cooler. Where people used to dream heading into space and talking to Cape Canaveral from the heavens, today many of our young dream of starting the next big technology company. As a result, kids are excited about technology. Geeks are the new chic
