Introduction

If you are a fan of the four-hour work week, you will know that you need to automate your processes. If you are swamped in daily admin and cannot see the light at the end of the tunnel, you understand that you need process automation. When you are trying to scale your business with fewer resources, you have a firm understanding that you need business process automation. We all know the benefits: resources are freed, you have clear visibility into the process, faster business reaction times, improved accountability and, of course, time and money savings. But, what does it look like when it's digitised, how does it work, how long will it take and how much will it cost?

The premise

Workflow has many different names in business, and, to make matters more confusing, not everyone agrees that the names mean what they say. For example, there is a debate as to whether workflow management and business process management are the same thing. In this series, we will break down business process management (BPM) in the business. The idea is for you to understand the requirements after looking at a business process, translate that into a flow diagram and then transform that into a digitised process using the best method for the job. All this, while getting a real-life tutorial that shows costs, time and effort to getting a process automated.

There are essentially three different approaches or options to this guide.
