Esquire releases ABIT AN7 motherboard with second processor

Johannesburg, 21 Nov 2003

Esquire Technologies, a leading distributor of PC hardware and peripherals and sole distributor of ABIT products, announced today the availability of the new ABIT AN7 motherboard with a second processor on board for optimum performance and stability.

ABIT Computer Corporation, headquartered in Taiwan, is a world leader in the design and distribution of a complete family of award-winning motherboards and multimedia products.

The AN7 motherboard is also the latest ABIT motherboard to feature intelligent hardware monitoring, system tweaking, overclocking and technical support with the company's proprietary uGuru processor. Operating as an independent microprocessor, uGuru effectively frees up CPU resources from performing these functions, further increasing system performance.

As a part of the motherboard, uGuru optimises the motherboard for ultimate performance and what differentiates it is the onboard memory that allows users to save their favourite overclocking settings for specific applications.

The ABIT AN7 supports AMD Athlon XP processors for Socket A, with the FSB at 400MHz, and is fitted with the Nvidia nForce2 Ultra 400 chipset with MCP-T. The motherboard accommodates Dual DDR 400 memory in three DIMMs.

Gary Febel, Product Manager of Esquire, says: "uGuru is a new microprocessor designed by ABIT engineers for use only on ABIT motherboards. As the name implies, uGuru acts as a 'spiritual guide', sharing with ABIT users tips for hardware monitoring, overclocking, BIOS flashing and audio tweaking functions in an easy to use, Windows-based interface. It allows end-users to reach a higher state of hardware awareness and enlightenment."

uGuru combines such features as ABIT EQ, ABIT FanEQ, ABIT OCGuru, ABIT FlashMenu, ABIT AudioEQ and ABIT BlackBox into a user-friendly interface providing users with the perfect environment to maximise performance and stability.

With ABIT BlackBox, ABIT takes yet another innovative step in terms of service. BlackBox does exactly what you think it might - in the event of a system problem or crash, it records vital system information that the ABIT engineers can use to determine the extent of the problem.

Furthermore, BlackBox also includes an automatic ABIT technical support e-mail feature, which relays this information to ABIT at the touch of a button.

"ABIT BlackBox is another step in ABIT's quest to provide personalised global service for every end-user, in every country," adds Febel.

With the AN7, users have 2 SATA ports and 2 parallel ports, meaning ABIT users can connect up to 6 Hard Disks at once. With on board 10/100 LAN, ABIT AN7 users have no need for a separate LAN card. For enhanced connectivity to peripheral devices, the AN7 comes with 2 x 1394 ports and 6 USB 2.0 ports.

There is S/PDIF In/Out for multimedia connectivity. As result of the company's extensive experience in audio technology, ABIT motherboards undergo rigorous testing at the ABIT Audio Research Laboratories in Taipei, ensuring that audiophiles and gamers alike will be satisfied with the richness and clarity of ABIT onboard audio. With the AN7, ABIT uses the latest AC'97 Codec. With ABIT's Audio EQ technology, AN7 users will have all the features of more expensive soundcards built into the uGuru processor. ABIT is the only Dolby-certified motherboard maker.
