Esquire distributes Micronet networking products

Esquire launches Micronet's range of WiFi IEEE 802.11g network adapters capable of speeds up to 108Mbps.

Johannesburg, 28 Oct 2004

Esquire Technologies, one of SA's leading distributors of computer hardware and peripherals, recently announced that it acquired the rights to distribute the world renowned Micronet range, which includes EtherFast LANs, wireless LANs, broadband communication, IP telephony and networking peripherals.

According to Mahomed Cassim, Esquire's Marketing Director, with the change in telecoms and Internet telephony in SA, Esquire will be well positioned to meet the burgeoning demands for quality products in the near future.

Since 1992, Micronet has delivered over millions connections worldwide to the enterprise, SME, ISP and SOHO markets.

Micronet's Ethernet LAN solution assist in creating an infrastructure of information highway at 10/100/1000Mbps with NIC, PCMCIA, USB, CompactFlash, Switches, Fibre Converter, PowerLine and VDSL, providing a number of useful features, including SNMP Web-based management.

Micronet Wireless LAN solutions build mobile and flexible connectivity without cabling, and with the inter-building bridging features, users can connect two buildings kilometres apart. The Micronet Wireless LAN Solution complies with IEEE802.11b with speed at 11Mbps. The Wireless IEEE802.11a and g of speed 54Mbps plans was released to the market during Q2 of 2003.

Micronet's Broadband Communication solution fits the emerging demand of ADSL broadband communication and includes modem cards, Ethernet modems, routers, and firewalls; delivering through ISP or distribution channels.

Micronet's IP Telephony solution saves users the cost of long distance calls and includes IP Phone and VOIP Gateway with FXS and FXO interface.

A new line of Micronet networking peripherals is also now available, including the Print Server, Cable, Accessory, KVM Switch, and Internet Camera.

Esquire also announces the availability of Micronet's new range of WiFi IEEE 802.11g network adapters capable of speeds of up to 108Mbps using Micronet's advanced compression and encryption, multi-channel bonding, packet bursting and fast frames techniques.

With compression and encryption, hardware engines operate in real-time to enhance throughput by implementing standard algorithms, as well as compress data prior to transmission and decompress it after reception.

Multi-channel bonding embraces two radio channels simultaneously, collapsing the available channels from 11 to three for increased bandwidth on the available channels. Single and double channels are not run at the same time. This technology senses single channel and dual channel frames and negotiates time-based solutions with priority on single channel processing.

The packet bursting technique puts more data into a single transmission allowing more raw data to be stuffed into each packet and, as a result, not only delivers much more data, but also executes this process with less traffic on the network. Packet bursting transforms lengthy binary code into simple equations, resulting in an overall reduction in the number of 1s and 0s being sent over the network. It is also the technique defined as one of the methods for performance improvement in the IEEE 802.11e QOS draft standard.

The fast frames technique enhances data throughput by increasing the number of bits sent per data frame and accelerates the timing of a data frame with a dynamic transmit optimisations. This technology enhances the packet bursting capability synergistically to provide accelerated performance results. The fast frames technique is also based on the 802.11e QOS draft standard.

The three new Micronet wireless adapter products include SP906GL Wireless LAN PCI Adapter, SP908GK Wireless PCMCIA LAN Adapter, and SP918GL WLAN Access Point and are available countrywide through Esquire's extensive channel network.
