ProLabs unveils suite of 100G compatible optical products

Johannesburg, 19 Nov 2015

ProLabs, the leading global provider of network infrastructure and connectivity products, has announced the launch of a new range of 100G compatible products, which will be solely distributed in South Africa and Africa by Networks Unlimited, South Africa's leading value-added distributor.

This launch represents a key milestone in the advancement and accessibility to 100G connectivity, as industries aim to modernise and renovate network infrastructures. The series will include a range of connectivity solutions, such as:

* CFP-100G-LR4-C & CFP-100G-LR-UC (uncoded) - available September 2015
* CFP-100G-SR10-C & CFP-100G-SR10-UC - available September 2015
* CFP2-100G-LR4-C - available early 2016

This launch complements ProLabs' significant expansion and sales growth. Over the last 12 months, ProLabs has extended its number of global distribution agreements from one to 11, effectively increasing its distribution channel reach to nearly every country around the world.

"ProLabs products complement our offering. We are pleased to now also offer its fully interoperable optical infrastructure products at 100G speeds to the African continent to the benefit of end-users in this region," says Anton Jacobsz, managing director at Networks Unlimited.

ProLabs' products are compatible with multiple OEM vendors across a product portfolio from 100BASE-FX to 100Gb. Its products provide 100% interoperability across different systems, with extensive testing procedures to guarantee competitive quality and reliability.

Christian Rookes, director of Product Management at ProLabs, adds: "ProLabs' global outreach, coupled with this new range of 100G products, gives customers the opportunity to deploy the latest, most reliable technology wherever they are in the world."

He continues: "The world of optical infrastructure is evolving and end-users no longer have to be constrained to one vendor's products. This new range of ProLabs' products allows end-users to use numerous OEM products alongside each other, with 100% interoperability at 100G speeds."

ProLabs is well-versed in the fast service, and affordable and quality infrastructure demanded by newer technologies. The new 100G suite of solutions further positions ProLabs as the industry leader in high-quality compatible network connectivity solutions.

"ProLabs is opening up and democratising the world of optical infrastructure products. Our ability to offer the latest innovation as a reasonably priced, high-quality alternative to OEMs will enable industries to benefit from 100G capabilities, where in the past it was impossible," says Nick Moglia, ProLabs CEO. "We believe that this move into 100G is reflective of our stated strategic ambitions and will augment the growth surge that we have experienced over the last year."

ProLabs, in conjunction with Networks Unlimited, will be on display at the biggest tech event in Africa, AfricaCom, from 17 to 19 November at the International Convention Centre in Cape Town. Visit the company at stand E26.
