Sophos recognised for Endpoint Protection platforms

Johannesburg, 01 Feb 2012

Sophos has announced that it has been positioned in the “Leaders'” quadrant of Gartner's 2011 "Magic Quadrant for Endpoint Protection Platforms". The quadrant is based on an assessment of a company's ability to execute, and completeness of vision.

According to the report, Gartner “continues to view the protection from malware as a primary purpose of the EPP solution, and this year, (we) focused our analysis on features or enhancements that result in higher detection rates or improved ability to reduce the attack surface on endpoints”.

In the latest version of its Endpoint Protection solution, Sophos announced fully integrated patch assessment, comprehensive Web protection and filtering, and integrated encryption - providing customers with complete security and protection everywhere, without complexity.

“IT staff are facing increasing complexity when securing 'everywhere networks', which makes endpoint protection that much more critical for organisations,” says Brett Myroff, CEO of Sophos distributor, NetXactics.

“Endpoint protection makes it is easier for stretched IT and security departments to find at-risk computers, manage alerts, set policies and clean up threats.”

Sophos was also positioned as a “Leader” in Gartner's 2011 Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection.

Gartner states: “As mobile devices become more capable, we see protection for these devices as becoming a key future requirement of EPP.”

Sophos recently released the latest version of its mobile device management (MDM) platform, Sophos Mobile Control 2.0, which ensures customers have complete protection everywhere and on any device.

“Sophos has a strong track record of providing customers and channel partners with complete security solutions, which also include cloud and mobile device management. Being positioned as a 'Leader' in this report reaffirms Sophos's value proposition,” Myroff says.
