Rectron has unveiled details of its new high-end Gigabyte GeForce GV-N580D5-15I-B, the latest-generation DirectX 11 graphics processing unit (GPU) from nVidia.
“Dubbed the fastest single GPU on the planet, the new GeForce GV-N580D5-15I-B - more popularly known at the GeForce GTX 580 and the successor to the GTX480 - enhances on the already powerful performance of the GTX480,” says Frans Smit, Gigabyte Product Manager at Rectron, sole local Gigabyte distributor.
“Higher core, memory and shader clocks coupled with a quieter cooling system and lower power consumption equates to the best levels of performance yet from a single GPU graphics card.”
Smit believes enthusiasts and nVidia fans who are investigating the latest enthusiast-level graphics card to invest in - or to substantially upgrade their existing hardware set-up - should look no further this festive season.
“With the Gigabyte GeForce GTX580, breathtaking, liquid-smooth performance, breathtaking visuals and intelligent power management are the order of the day,” he states.
“The GTX580 speaks for itself. If you want bleeding-edge performance, lower power consumption, quiet operation and support for the latest graphics standards, the GTX580 is for you. The GTX580 supports nVidia 3D Vision - with the correct components - and will bring your games to life, while Surround Vision will broaden your view with up to three displays.”
With a suggested retail price of between R6 599 and R6 999, the GV-N580D5-15I-B is built with next-generation nVidia GeForce GTX 580 GPU and GDDR5 memory technology to cater for the most demanding, modern PC game.
“The GeForce GTX 580 differs from previous generation of GeForce cards in that it runs quieter by using an innovative vapour chamber thermal design,” he said.
“Supporting nVidia 3D Vision Surround, 3D Vision, PhysX,, and 3-way SLI, the GV-N580D5-15I-B was designed to provide the highest levels of gaming experience.”
Besides supporting nVidia 3D Vision Surround, users can expand games across three displays in full stereoscopic 3D with SLI.
Gigabyte claims that with its 512 CUDA cores and improvements of Fermi architecture, GV-N580D5-15I-B beats all its rivals “easily”: new high-speed 32x anti-aliasing smoothes all rough edges and provides high-quality anti-aliasing at up to 32x sample rates to obliterate jagged edges for gamers to enjoy cinematic visuals.
“The Gigabyte GV-N580D5-15I-B also supports native HDMI and 7.1 channel audio for an immersive, high-definition audio and video experience,” said Smit.
