Profile

SAVANT is the marketing and awareness programme for the South African ICT & Electronics sector.  It is a Public-Private-Partnership between government as represented through the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) and industry.

SAVANT is the vanguard of technology aimed at raising the awareness of the ICT & Electronics Sector by marketing the industry locally and internationally.  Furthermore it aims to position the ICT & Electronics Sector in a unique and differentiated way in order to add dimension to its global competitiveness.

SAVANT was initiated in 2001 with the purpose of firstly defining and showcasing the domestic ICT & Electronics Sector’s competitive offerings, and secondly to provide a platform for local companies, to promote their products and services to both domestic and global markets.

The programme has resulted in the formation of strategic linkages with a number of government departments, associations (including regional representation) and academic institutions to ensure access to current developments and expertise within the sector and most importantly information dissemination.

The broad objectives of the Savant programme are to grow the South African ICT & Electronics sector by:

·        Becoming the local and global voice of the ICT & Electronics sector in South Africa

·        Promoting export opportunities

·        Promoting investment opportunities

·        Coordinating an information portal across the South African ICT & Electronics sector between both private and public sectors

Through The DTI’s Foreign Economic Representative network within 36 strategic markets across the world, SAVANT encourages the exchange of information with potential partners/consumers, thus ensuring global exposure of South Africa’s competitive niche products and offerings.

South Africa is an excellent ICT & Electronics partner of choice in world-class innovation and design
