Software AG launches Data Masking for Adabas, ensuring data anonymity, security throughout life cycle

[Darmstadt, Germany, 8 May 2012] - Software AG today announced the launch of Data Masking for Adabas, a solution created to  enable Adabas customers to design and test applications using actual production data that has been altered to ensure the privacy and security of the data itself.

Developers building applications designed to interact with data in Adabas need real data against which to test and refine their applications in test or QA environments. Yet real-world data contains a wealth of highly sensitive information — everything from customer names to credit card numbers to medical records.

An organisation could extract a snapshot of corporate data from Adabas and preserve its anonymity manually, ensuring that sensitive information has been stripped out and dummy values or text has been inserted. However, that process is time- and resource-intensive — and subject to human error and oversight.
