Zetes South Africa, part of the pan-EMEA leaders in people and goods identification, announces the appointment of Alex Driesen as managing director and general manager in line with the group's strategic acquisition plan.

In July 2011, Zetes acquired the ProScan Group to form Zetes South Africa, and more recently consolidated its three operations into a single entity to focus on expansion and growth in local markets and Africa.

Outgoing managing director and general manager, Andrew Fosbrook, who founded the company in 2002, will remain with the group in the part-time role of company secretary supporting the board of directors of Zetes in South Africa. He will also finalise the merger of the three legal entities under the Zetes umbrella.

Driesen comments: "I look forward to working with the South African team in one of the most dynamic markets across the Zetes Group and building on the successful foundation that Fosbrook established in growing the South African business to become a market leader. We also appreciate his support in finalising the restructuring of the South African subsidiary to drive profitable growth."

"As part of the succession plan, I look forward to handing over the reins to Driesen and the team," adds Fosbrook. "With its leadership position in the South African market and the support and leverage of the global Zetes group, the SA team is well positioned to expand successfully into other regions."

Driesen will combine his new role in South Africa with his current role as senior vice-president for North Europe and South Africa and with the new role of senior vice-president for emerging markets. He has been a member of Zetes' executive leadership team for many years and has helped the company achieve its current leading position within the European market.

From roles both in field operations and corporate head office, he was responsible for leading international initiatives to further enhance the group's position across both goods ID and people ID. Driesen studied in Belgium and the US, has master's degrees in engineering and in business administration, and is a graduate of the AMP programme of the Harvard Business School.
