NSS offers R250 000 in ITIL training bursaries

Johannesburg, 04 Jun 2004

NSS Consulting will be offering close to R250 000 in bursaries for members of the historically disadvantaged community to achieve full IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) qualifications.

ITIL is trademarked by the British Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and its goal is the development of a vendor-independent approach for service management.

"The ethos behind the development is the recognition of increased dependence on IT, which has to be managed by high-quality IT services," explains NSS Director Lynda Odendaal.

The first qualification is the ITIL Foundations Certificate, with an independent examination board awarding certification to participants who receive a passing grade of 65%.

The Foundations Course leads to an understanding of the importance of IT service management; service management processes and the interfaces between them; ITIL processes and the relations between the processes and; the basic concepts in ITIL

The second qualification level is the ITIL Manager Certificate, which is awarded to individuals capable of applying the ITIL theory to any organisation. To qualify for this level, candidates require knowledge of ITIL Foundations, EXIN (or ISEB) and work and thinking capability at tertiary education level, Odendaal explains.

ITIL Manager Certificate course is conducted over two five-day sessions covering Service Support and Service Delivery disciplines, with a minimum of 60 contact hours required for successful completion of the Manager`s programme.

Odendaal has asked that companies and organisations contact NSS at (011) 519-8600 to propose suitable candidates.
