More Africans in Achievers finals

The finalists for the 14 categories of the African ICT Achievers Awards were named at a function in Midrand this morning.

ForgeAhead MD Jane Mosebi says the awards remain as relevant today as they were five years ago.

One significant contribution made by the awards, through partners such as the Development Bank of Southern Africa and government, is in helping youth finalists with education, learnerships and industry networking.

This year, many of the finalists are from countries other than SA, a change from last year when a Nigerian was the only finalist from outside SA.

"The theme for this year`s awards is African Excellence, and the quality of the finalists is a clear reflection of what the continent has to offer, as well as a good indication of its untapped potential," Mosebi says.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner on 6 November.
