Marketing and technology company, The Virtual Works, received a Technology Top 100 status for its i-Partner technology.

i-Partner is a hosted application and strategic process that allows an organisation to regain control of its value chain. The system provides an online and mobile service that connects customers directly to partners in a supply chain.

"i-Partner is a channel management system that uses the Web and cellphone platforms to pull together an organisation and its supply chain into a highly responsive customer service network," explains Jonathan Hall, MD of The Virtual Works.

"There are a lot of problems in supplier chain management and value chain management," says Andy Hadfield, technology solutions manager for The Virtual Works. "We`ve come up with a technology that helps local companies fight foreign competition. i-Partner helps companies to manage and create value through the supplier chain."

The awards, presented during an event at Gallagher Estate on Monday, are endorsed by the Department of Science and Technology. They reward South African companies that excelled in innovation and performance over the last three years.

Five South African manufacturers are using the i-Partner technology to drive their strategic partner programmes: Glass South Africa, Cobra Watertech, PG Bison, Plascon and PG Glass.

The Virtual Works was established in 1997 as a management services enterprise.
