Big business joins forces to help small business in national road show and walk the talk

Johannesburg, 06 Apr 2005

In a unique example of big business partnering to assist small business, Microsoft, Standard Bank, M-Web Business and Business Day`s Real Business will share knowledge and build relationships with small and medium companies in a series of national workshops designed to aid small and medium enterprises (SMEs)develop, grow and create jobs.

The initial four-city business workshops will be held in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban during April.

Heavily subsidised by the four big players to provide real value for a day away from their business, owner/managers of SMEs are invited to pay R350 to attend an all-day workshop and receive practical hands-on help and skills transfer.

Real Business editor Colin Anthony says delegates should not expect sales pitches from any of the partners; instead the aim is to provide professional business training and coaching by expert business trainers in an informal and accessible setting.

The three large companies form part of the alliance behind Real Business, Business Day`s monthly SME supplement which appears on the third Monday of every month. Andre Joubert, General Manager, M-Web Business, said: "We believe that the SME business sector is of paramount importance to real growth in the South African economy and to the creation of sustainable jobs."

Bradley Hopkinson, SMS&P Director, Microsoft SA, agrees saying: "The growth of this sector depends largely on the resources and content that small businesses can access and use to help their companies succeed. These road shows offer business owners and managers support, advice and practical help with essential business skills."

Invitations will be sent out but places are limited and interested parties should contact:
