WA police gear up

The Western Australia police force is gearing up for a 10-year IT replacement strategy that will cost tens of millions of dollars a year, reports Australian IT News.

During the 2008 financial year, it will look for a range of services, including technology governance and strategic management advice, business representative and liaison services, and project management services.

A police official says the strategy represents a move to a new era that is underpinned by change, and represents many opportunities for WA police to manage its information and associated technology.

IT builds nations

Nepal's minister for environment, science and technology, Mahatha Thakur, says the country should forge ahead by internalising IT while building the new Nepal, says Gorkhapatra.org.

While speaking at a discussion programme on 'Implementation of good governance master plan and its challenges', organised by the National Information Technology Centre, the minister said the process of making new Nepal remains incomplete due to the lack of modernisation of the traditional administrative mechanism.

The secretaries of the Nepal Government and experts from the concerned sectors have participated in the discussion.

Axentis partners with IT Governance Institute

Axentis is partnering with the IT Governance Institute (ITGI) to under resell its Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (COBIT) as part of its new IT GRC Management Suite, says Businesswire.com.

The partnership aims to enable organisations to effectively develop, communicate and manage IT processes based on widely-recognised standards such as ISO/IEC 17799, ITIL, and GAPP in addition to COBIT.

"The agreement with Axentis allows our COBIT framework to be provided through Axentis IT GRC Management Suite, which ensures that more organisations are able to better leverage these standards to enhance their IT governance," said Roger Debreceny, chair of ITGI's COBIT Steering Committee.
