SAS measures eco-friendliness

Business intelligence firm SAS is set to release a solution that enables companies to measure how their operations impact the environment - a tough sell for now but a step in the right direction, according to one analyst, says Inquirer.net.

SAS says its Sustainability Management solution allows end-users to measure business based on what it refers to as the "triple bottom line" of environmental, social and economic indicators.

SAS says its solution uses predefined "green" metrics from the Global Reporting Initiative, used by more than thousands of businesses to measure the environmental impact of their operations.

Nick Halsey, Jaspersoft VP of marketing, stated that this upgrade will move beyond embedded, production business intelligence to enterprise functionality for all products.

Jaspersoft v3 includes an interactive Web 2.0 interface based on an AJAX framework, dynamic HTML, and other technologies that deliver the ability to mash-up business intelligence features.

LogiXML reveals LogiOnDemand

LogiXML has introduced LogiOnDemand, a new division dedicated to providing business intelligence in a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model for enterprise, SMEs and individual end-users, says CBR.

Widgenie, the first product from the new unit, is an on-demand, interactive data visualisation tool that allows users to build free dynamic graphics from spreadsheet data and share their widgenies on blogs, social networks and websites.

LogiXML has said that with Widgenie, users can plug in data from local Excel or CSV (comma-separated value) spreadsheets to build dynamic graphical representations such as pie charts, bar and line graphs.
