Mobile marketing and broadcasting will be a key topic on the agenda at Soccerex 2008. The business-to-business soccer convention and FIFA have put together a panel of senior figures from FIFA, Ericsson and Perform, to discuss the growing importance of alternative communication technologies, says marketing and communications executive for Soccerex, Billy Hunt.

The panel, entitled Mobile communications in Africa and beyond - the key to reaching fans at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, aims to assist SA in developing its mobile media strategy for 2010. The panel will be headed by Niclas Eriscon, the director of the FIFA TV division. He will address the opportunities and importance of fan communication via media platforms for 2010.

Business development manager at Ericsson, Robin Berglund, will bring his experience in mobile global deployments to the panel with a discussion on remaining innovative in a highly competitive market, and how using mobile services and handsets will greatly increase fan interaction.

According to Hunt, mobile marketing has achieved prominence in the South African consumer market, with the slow growth of Internet usage. He notes that SA is the world's fourth fastest growing cellular communications market and it offers one of the highest penetration rates in the developing market.

Hunt says he hopes the conference panel will provide delegates at Soccerex with expert consultation sessions on mobile marketing strategies, focusing on the rapidly developing South African telecommunications market.
