BI Practice throws weight behind ITWeb BI 2009

Johannesburg, 25 Feb 2009

Sybase SA's BI Practice is sponsoring ITWeb's 2009 Business Intelligence (BI) Conference for the fourth consecutive year, in line with its commitment to supporting the development of BI skills and capacity in SA.

The BI conference presents delegates with an opportunity to learn about the latest developments in BI, and it will also showcase how leading organisations are benefiting from their BI investments. The conference takes place on 25 and 26 February 2009 at The Forum, Bryanston. As the only South African event focused exclusively on BI, this event conference has become an annual opportunity for BI vendors and users to meet, share implementation methodologies and best practices, and discuss the latest trends.

Says Estelle de Beer, BI Practice's Practice Manager: "As the leading end-to-end BI solutions provider in South Africa, we are committed to the aggressive development of skills as well as to the promotion of knowledge-sharing among the local BI community.

"This annual conference is focused on the needs of the companies that use BI solutions rather than the ones that sell them, and delivers enormous business value to end-user organisations. We are proud to support an event that delivers a programme of high-quality content every year."

De Beer notes that South African companies need to have rock-solid information to remain competitive in a tough global economy. Building local expertise, experience and understanding of BI solutions is essential for organisations that want to transform the quality and intelligence of their business information and achieve optimum business performance.

"BI has reached a new level of maturity, both as a discipline and a technology market. Regulatory, competitive and cost pressures are all combining to make BI one of the most critical CIO priorities for the years to come," says De Beer.

"The South African end-user and vendor community will need a massive investment in skills to meet the demand. Information-sharing platforms like the ITWeb BI Conference have a valuable role to play in the education process."
