Phoenix Global Software, a leading re-publisher of software, is delighted to announce the right to distribute OnSpeed into the South African marketplace.
OnSpeed, through a simple software download, allows users to browse the Web and send and receive e-mails up to 10 times faster without the need for additional hardware. It can be used with any Internet connection anywhere in the world regardless of the user`s Internet service provider.
Simon Campbell-Young, CEO of Phoenix Global Software, said: "There has been a vast growth in the number of Internet users in recent times. As a result, the demand for increased speed across the Internet has also dramatically increased. OnSpeed delivers that increase in speed - irrespective of the type of connection that the user has. This represents a fantastic opportunity to bring near-broadband speeds to slow dial-up accounts, and provides a `speed-bump` to broadband users.
"SA is permanently dogged by bandwidth issues, with users across all connectivity platforms permanently looking for Internet speed increases. Once installed, it literally starts straight away with no intervention needed from an engineer or additional equipment required.
"This really is a `one size fits all solution` and I am delighted to be able to offer this product to our customers."
"We have proven very successful offering OnSpeed in Europe and are now ready to expand into new exciting markets. With the valuable experience of Phoenix as a distributor, combined with the quality of our product, we are confident this venture will achieve great success," says Jamie True, co-founder of OnSpeed.
The application is a modest 1MB download via https://www.onspeed.com/en/shop/?A=computrolley1 and should take no longer than two minutes to download via a dialup connection. Dialup speed increases from 56kb per second to around the 560kbps, which is well into broadband territory. The software works using superior compression technology, developed by the US Military and NASA and is further endorsed by 250 000 users in the UK alone. Dialup is five times faster, broadband three times faster and GPRS eight times faster.
Price and availability
OnSpeed will be available for download immediately at R299 VAT inclusive from https://www.onspeed.com/en/shop/?A=computrolley1.
Retail boxes will be available from retail stores countrywide from 10 June 2005.
