CA's ERwin Data Modeller supports Microsoft Visual Studio for Database Professionals

Johannesburg, 27 Nov 2006

CA has announced that it will integrate its AllFusion ERwin Data Modeller (ERwin DM) with Microsoft's new Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals.

This integration will enable database professionals to jump-start creation of managed objects in the new Microsoft application by using existing database designs.

By working with the design visualisation, task automation and advanced modelling capabilities of CA's AllFusion ERwin DM, customers can significantly accelerate time-to-value for their implementations of Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals. The integration will also enable Visual Studio users to re-use data models across their IT environments.

"As Microsoft customers implement Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals to streamline and optimise their development processes, they will be looking for ways to use their existing data models, data-modelling skills and data-modelling tools," said Matt Nunn, senior product manager in the Developer Division at Microsoft.

"The support that CA is building into its popular AllFusion ERwin DM solution and the integration with Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Database Professionals will enable it to fulfil this critical requirement."

AllFusion ERwin Data Modeler simplifies the design, generation and maintenance of high-quality, high-performance databases, data warehouses and enterprise data resource models. It also enables developers and IT architects to more readily visualise the optimal structure and design of their databases and other applications based on their organisation's information requirements and business rules.

Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals delivers a database development product designed to manage database change, improve software quality through database testing and bring the benefits of Visual Studio Team System and life cycle development to the database professional.

"The thousands of users who take advantage of AllFusion Erwin DM to streamline and simplify data modeling can now work with the capabilities in the Visual Studio Team Edition for Database Professionals environment," said Scott Kane, CA's senior vice-president and product line manager for database management and modelling. "CA will continue to support all of the Microsoft platforms our customers use in pursuit of their business goals."

The integration extends CA's AllFusion ERwin DM support for Microsoft platforms, which also includes Microsoft SQL Server 2005/2000. Other CA products that support Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 include Harvest Change Manager, CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert, CleverPath Aion Business Process Manager, AllFusion Gen, and AllFusion Plex.
