Advanced messaging in pipeline

According to The Swazi Observer, Swazi Post, a division of Swaziland Post and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC), will soon provide advanced technological message sending facilities for mostly rural communities.

Minister of tourism, environment and communications Thandi Shongwe revealed this during the official opening of the postal stakeholders' meeting at the Swaziland Water Services Corporation headquarters at Ezulwini last week.

"Swazi Post has had serious constraints since it decided to stop the operations of some of its outlets," she said, adding that the company had been afforded a second chance through a new strategy that had been put together by SPTC.

Apple applies for patent

Apple has set the groundwork for instant messaging on the iPhone and other touchscreen devices with an application for a patent on a universal interface for real-time text chat services, says Apple Insider.

Published in March, the USPTO filing describes an interface similar to the existing SMS text messaging interface for the iPhone, but with key changes.

In normal use, users would continue to use the same bubble chat interface as with today's phone, complete with the ability to start new messages by searching through the contact list or typing the first few letters of someone's name. Users can also see a past chat history and remove individual conversations from the list.

Axigen, Stimulus partner

Axigen, a messaging solution vendor, and Stimulus Software, vendor of the MailArchiva e-mail archiving system, have developed a partnership aimed at integrating e-mail messaging and archiving functionalities, reports Search by Headlines.

Through this strategic technology integration, the companies aim to proactively address the issues arising for businesses of all sizes that work towards complying with IT governance standards and concepts.

The joint Axigen Mail Server and MailArchiva will provide all functionalities of a complete e-mail messaging and archiving solution.
