Dell gets channel chief

The Texas-based hardware vendor has named Davis as its VP and GM of global channels.

The move comes as part of a major reorganisation, unveiled just over a week ago.

MS, Accenture drive retail initiative

Accenture and Microsoft have begun an initiative to help retailers tackle the challenge of linking consumers to emerging technology platforms such as social networking and online communities, writes Microsoft.

Accenture and Microsoft will work with Avanade, a global IT consultancy created by Accenture and Microsoft, to help retailers extend the shopping experience to a widening number of locations and devices, including the Web and mobile computing.

This will allow retailers to deliver a wide range of services and products consistently across every channel in which consumers interact with retailers.

Novell reshuffles execs

Novell has made changes to its executive management team in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and to its partner and channel organisation, reports FinChannel.

Javier Colado, currently VP and GM of partners, will be promoted to the post of president, Novell EMEA, with overall responsibility for sales and business operations in these territories.

Colado will report to Novell president and CEO Ron Hovsepian. He replaces Volker Smid, who has held the post since December 2006, and is leaving to pursue other interests.
