SOA demands the right people

SOA demands the right people

A study by market research firm Link Group found that half of companies are deploying service oriented architecture (SOA) to enable efficiencies and cost savings, and a further 27% are piloting such projects, says VNUNet.

However, IT research company Butler Group warned that technology alone will not see SOA projects succeed in the long term.

Butler Group's SOA Governance report suggests that, while technology is important for success, it is vital to put the right people in the right roles, and give them the authority they need to ensure that the deployment is consistent with business needs.

WSO2 adds SOA support

WSO2's open source Registry, version 1.1, is now available, says SOA World.

The WSO2 Registry 1.1 adds comprehensive, out-of-the-box, SOA lifecycle management.

Version 1.1 also includes new features for allowing users to encode their own custom governance rules and policies, as well as validation to ensure that services match corporate industry interoperability standards.

Sogeti to host SOA event

Sogeti plans to host a Chicago event to help companies successfully implement SOA in their business, says Business Wire.

The event is called 'SOA for Profit - Addressing the Reality of SOA', and will provide an opportunity for C-level executives, senior architects and enterprise architects to gain insight and best practices on how to use SOA in their business.

The event will provide practical guidance on topics such as how to gain buy-in internally for SOA, successfully starting and managing SOA initiatives, and ensuring your technical architecture is effectively aligned with your organisation's business objectives.
