UCS Software Manufacturing has entered into a partnership with Indian-based Satyam Computer Services, a global consulting and IT services company.

In terms of the partnership, Satyam will introduce UCS Software Manufacturing's (UCCSM's) assemble-to-order software solutions in India, Asia Pacific, US and Europe.

Satyam's revenues exceed $1 billion and it is one of the top three Indian software companies, with offices in 52 countries around the world.

Dr Prakash Challa, head of Satyam's retail business unit, says the company is looking to enter the implementation and support of "next-generation solutions" for its existing and new retail clients. This should help increase its retail-focused revenue substantially during 2007, he notes.

In terms of the agreement, UCCSM will assemble the initial system at source code level and Satyam will then modify it to suit customers' requirements.

UCSSM CEO Neels van Tonder says the partnership with Satyam marks the start of an aggressive sales drive for UCCSM, which is the 'software factory' for the JSE-listed UCS Group.
