Cloud computing threats can be countered

New technology can counter the security risks posed by cloud computing, reports SC Magazine.

Security issues with cloud computing have been highlighted by a US military science professor at the Defcon security convention recently.

In May, ISACA found that information security management, along with regulatory compliance and the challenges of managing IT risks, were uppermost in members minds when it comes to security in a poll.

Utilising IT to cut costs

Organisations keep looking for new ways to bring down costs. Leveraging IT effectively can be one way of achieving this objective, reports CXO Today.

"IT can be leveraged in many ways to reduce operational costs for organisations. Especially during tough economic times, in order to reduce TCO, it is prudent for companies to adopt and deploy solutions that are easy to deploy, maintain with the ever changing requirements of organisations," says Abhijit Saxena, CEO of netCore Solutions.

Thin clients, server-based computing, open source applications, virtualisation, etc. are some technologies that can help reduce costs, at the same time ensuring that productivity is not compromised.

Infotronics inks thin client deal

Infotronics has struck a deal with German-based thin client vendor, IGEL Technology, says ARNNet.

IGEL's offerings provide users with secure, local and remote access to desktop applications that run on Citrix XenApp virtual desktops (VDI), Microsoft Windows terminal services, blade PCs and legacy terminal emulation based systems.

Infotronics technical director, Phil Lancaster, said it had been actively looking for a replacement for Neoware after it was acquired by HP last year.
