Homecoming Revolution has launched a new-look Web site in conjunction with First National Bank (FNB) aimed at helping South Africans living abroad to return home by providing information, support, financial services and advice.

Homecoming Revolution is a non-profit initiative founded in 2003 that is aimed at encouraging South Africans overseas to return their skills to SA.

"There is a particular need for skills in the information technology, medical and engineering sectors," says Angel Jones, founder of Homecoming Revolution.

"FNB is encouraging South Africans to return and help create jobs," says Michael Jordaan, CEO of FNB customer relations. "We can help provide the banking support and advice home-comers need."

In addition to support through message boards, chat rooms and information on topics such as the South African economy and crime statistics, help is available for opening bank accounts, securing home loans and obtaining vehicle finance, as well as starting a business and arranging medical aid.

"Official figures for returning South Africans are difficult to obtain, but the trend established through the original Web site, removal companies and estate agents show the numbers are growing," says Jones. "With the assistance of corporate sponsor, FNB, the Homecoming Revolution hopes to gain more valuable statistics in the near future."

The Homecoming Revolution estimates there are over 5 million South Africans living overseas, with the majority of 28% being in the UK.
