The initiative is held in cooperation with the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society. Sangonet is coordinating the South African WSA process and will involve various online content experts in reviewing the entries.

The competition covers eight categories: e-learning, e-culture, e-science, e-government, e-health, e-business, e-entertainment and e-inclusion.

The international winners will be announced in November at the WSA Gala in Tunisia.

The closing date for South African nominations is 26 July. To participate, go to www.sangonet.org.za. For more information on rules and evaluation criteria, visit www.wsis-award.org.
