Hi-Performance Learning Group spearheads e-learning with new software learning technology

Johannesburg, 13 Apr 2005

Johannesburg-based software company CUDA Technologies (Pty) Ltd - a member of the Hi-Performance Learning Group - today launched its new learning software, CUDAT Version 3, in a move that is set to revolutionise e-learning in SA and other developing countries.

CUDAT Version 3 is highly configurable, scalable and capable of delivering e-learning within the boundaries of complex technical environments. Earlier versions of CUDA have already been successful in lowering the barriers to entry for e-learning as the programme enables content-rich and bandwidth-light e-learning across geographically diverse and remote locations.

Says Dayne Falkenberg, MD of CUDA Technologies: "CUDA provides a solution that is technically capable of delivering online learning at under 30KB of network traffic. It can deliver e-learning where there is outdated hardware and software, restricted bandwidths and unstable network connections - at a cost that makes e-learning viable to the majority of organisations in Africa."

"Our breakthrough with CUDA has been in lowering the costs and technical complexity typically associated with e-learning and makes it easy for organisations to make e-learning a reality," says Dayne Falkenberg. "We are particularly excited about our ability to apply e-learning to remote geographical regions and will soon begin a pilot project using satellite technology to implement the software across many different locations simultaneously."

Ryan Falkenberg, MD of Hi-Performance Learning - the e-learning design partner of CUDA Technologies - says organisations can begin using e-learning from early stages of readiness and build up as the benefits are realised. "One of our success factors in delivering effective e-learning solutions has been the early work we did with learning psychologists to map out the logic of the brain."

Ryan Falkenberg said the globally renowned Endeavor Entrepreneurs` programme, which helps entrepreneurs in emerging markets grow their businesses to a global scale, would assist CUDA to develop markets in sub-Saharan Africa and other developing regions.

Earlier this year Ryan Falkenberg was selected as one of eight candidates for Endeavor`s South African programme in recognition of the HPL Group`s successes in learning design and technology. Endeavour was particularly attracted by CUDA`s ability to lower the barriers to entry for e-learning in developing countries.
