Panda Internet Security 2008 wins 'Reviewer's Choice' seal from US magazine GCN

GCN highlighted the ease-of-use and feature-rich offer (anti-spyware, anti-spam, backup, etc) of the Panda suite

Johannesburg, 28 Aug 2007

The beta version of Panda Internet Security 2008 has received the 'Reviewer's Choice' seal in a comparative review carried out by the prestigious US magazine Government Computer News (GCN).

"Panda Internet Security 2008 more than lived up to our expectations," says the magazine. Panda's security suite rated best in functionality, scan speed and ease-of-use.

The solution's ease of use is one of the aspects highlighted by the magazine. "Installing the software was simple and easy," explains the magazine, and adds: "It was the only program to find all 10 of the cookies we put on the test system."

The wide range of features is another aspect praised by GCN: "In addition to anti-virus, you also get anti-spam, anti-spyware, backup help and a program to optimise system performance."

Panda has already launched the release version of Panda Internet Security 2008 on the market. This new version offers superior detection and disinfection capacity as it has been based on a new security model, megadetection, allowing it to detect and disinfect over one million threats.

The megadetection model is based on four basic pillars:

* Permanent protection, thanks to daily automatic updates.
* Proactive protection with TruPrevent Technologies to detect unknown threats through behavioural analysis.
* In-depth online scanning with Panda TotalScan Pro to detect sophisticated malicious code that can evade traditional anti-virus solutions.
* Collective intelligence, the new security focus.
* Technical services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Panda Internet Security 2008 allows users to perform in-depth online scans with TotalScan Pro. This online application detects all types of active and latent malware on PCs, based on the new 'collective intelligence' approach. This approach includes automated processing of large quantities of information about programs and files in a new infrastructure managed by PandaLabs, and real-time communication with users' computers. This way, the malware scanning and detection is performed on Panda Security's servers, not on the user's computer.
