The Free Software and Open Source Foundation for Africa (FOSSFA) has issued an invitation for interested companies to sponsor the upcoming third African Conference on FOSS and the Digital Commons.

The conference will take place from 16 to 20 March in Dakar, Senegal, and is expected to feature FOSSFA patron and SA's minister of public service and administration, Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi.

The theme of this year's conference is 'Making the Knowledge Economy work for Africa', says FOSSFA. Sub-themes include good governance, connectivity, African integration, applications and developers, human capacity and skills, sustainable business models and community development.

"The idea is that the utilisation of knowledge contributes to economic expansion, social integration and good governance. It is widely recognised that learning, capacity building and knowledge creation are the important tools in ensuring a sustainable knowledge economy," says the organisation.

Companies interested in sponsoring the conference can contact lufunot@dpsa.gov.za.
