Microsoft releases upgrade

Microsoft has released an updated version of its Transporter Suite for Lotus Domino as one way to move to Exchange Server, Office SharePoint Server and the Office Suite, and off of Notes and Domino, says SearchWinIT.

Microsoft has improved the Transporter tools' ability to scale up from tens of thousands of users to hundreds of thousands of end-users, said Clint Patterson, a director in the unified communications group at Microsoft.

Patterson said the tools were field tested in an organisation with 200 000 employees.

Instant messaging soars

European mobile instant messaging (IM) will triple in the next six years, with young consumers fuelling the growth, says analyst Forrester, according to ComputerWeekly.

Forrester said mobile IM adoption in Europe will grow from 8% (26.7 million subscribers) in 2007 to 24% (80 million subscribers) by 2013.

Sweden and the UK will lead in mobile IM adoption, with 35% and 31% of respective subscribers using mobile IM by 2013.

Clickatell, Dontgo team up

Clickatell, which sells mobile messaging, and Dontgo, an online consumer advocate service, have announced the launch of a mobile customer service notification system.

Using Clickatell's global mobile messaging services, Dontgo lets users send text messages directly from their cellphones at the time of service.

This lets customers report bad service using their cellphone instantly.
