No matter how important computers and mobile phones are, television and radio remain the primary tools of an information society, says Sentech, Africa's largest broadcast signal distributor.

The Sentech radio and television signal distribution network transmits and delivers information to the homes of millions of South Africans, thus enabling them to participate in society.

SA households enjoy SABC 1, 2 & 3, eTV and MNet, which are carried by Sentech's terrestrial television network.

Sentech is also responsible for the migration of the current analogue television network to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT), which goes live in November 2008. DTT will bring much clearer and sharper pictures, and it takes up far less bandwidth than analogue, so there's more space for additional channels.

This means that South Africans may enjoy more channel options and as a result, there will be scope for dedicated educational channels and community news channels.

Sentech's radio network carries 64 FM radio stations, comprised of, public, commercial, community, medium and short wave (MW and SW) radio stations. These radios stations cover all 11 official South African languages.

Sentech is all about connecting you to your world and connecting the world to you. The Sentech tower in Brixton is the spectacular icon that carries the 108 different signals that connects you to the world.
