Novell South Africa has announced the appointment of Gary Broomberg as its new sales director.
Broomberg, who boasts extensive experience in e-CRM sales, content management and the formalisation of solution strategies for large corporate companies, says Novell is well-poised to become a formidable player in the emerging market, particularly following its announcement of the next step in its One Net strategy.
"The Next Novell is geared around four distinct solution sets," he explains. "xteNd focuses on Web applications development, while Nsure offers secure identity management with a collection of services and technologies that address network provisioning and directory-based policy management. The third product is Nterprise, which includes all Novell`s traditional and internationally renowned cross-platform network services. Consulting and technical services are provided for in our Ngage offering."
Broomberg aims to drive awareness of the Next Novell initiative through the company`s channel partners. "Marketing will be driven through sales, and we intend to make use of various strong reference sites to enhance awareness in the market. It is not price that determines a successful sale, but rather the inherent business value the solution offers - the return on investment and value-add it brings to the organisation. Internationally, Novell has proven capable of meeting these requirements and more, and my responsibility is to firmly entrench this sales model in the market."
Broomberg intends meeting this objective through an aggressive marketing campaign aimed at the existing Novell client base as well as the general market. "Novell needs to become is own marketing company. We have tremendous technical leadership and our One Net strategy, together with the Next Novell initiative, is in line with Gartner`s prediction that mobile devices and Web services will be the dominant market trends over the next five years."
"Our recent acquisition of SilverStream, which specialises in Web services development, together with our other offerings, now squarely positions Novell to accommodate mobile devices through Web services," he concludes.
