Xpertek looks back on 2013

Johannesburg, 07 Jan 2014

The past year has been a busy one for Xpertek, with new projects and its improved processes helping its clients to expand operations globally. These are some of the exciting projects that Xpertek took on.

Credit card solution

Xpertek developed a credit card solution for AFB, a consumer finance business that specialises in the provision of credit products to consumers. This has been rolled out in Kenya and will shortly launch in Zambia.

The solution used at AFB is a closed loop card designed to run seamlessly with minimal user intervention. Customers apply for an AFB card at selected stores where the application is captured on Xpertek's loan management system, Acquire. Throughout the application process, the applicant is updated on the progress of the application via SMS. Once approved, an OTP is generated, which customers use to activate the card in store. TPS provides POS devices for card activation and Acquire has integrated successfully with these.

Solution for cellphone finance

Jabba Connect provides cost-effective finance for portable consumer technology and Xpertek's Acquire Process Manager manages the complete sales and delivery process. Xpertek's Acquire Process Manager is used at the front end and drives the processes. These include a Quick Capture process and a configured workflow process tailor-made for Jabba's unique requirements.

The Acquire Process Manager supplies workflow functionality for the confirmation, delivery, administration and customer service processes.

Several interfaces act successfully between all processes, and the Xpertek built Jabba Front End Solution integrates with RAM, Courier IT, Bright Point, Vicidial, Transunion and Hyphen.

Payroll deduction loans for parastatals

One of Xpertek's new clients, Empowerfin, went live recently. The Xpertek solution streamlines the application process by allowing staff to process more loans more efficiently and enables management to keep a close watch on daily operations.

Empowerfin is a new venture, which aims to provide payroll deduction loans to the employees of parastatals and local government departments. Loan kiosks will be available at the employer's offices, where loan applications, including supporting documents such as scanned payslips and ID documents, can be captured and the unique application process for Empowerfin is enforced.

Longstanding client opens in UK

ITEC, one of Xpertek's existing customers, has branched out to the UK, and Xpertek has just finalised the implementation of the ITEC UK system that specialises in rentals of office equipment.

Versatile Acquire

Within the Xpertek customer base, there have been several strategic changes, which are supported by the versatility of the Acquire system.

Existing client enhances its product range

At Select Africa, a revolving credit product has been scoped for Lesotho, and this new initiative will be launched in January 2014. The enhancement will enable Select Africa to offer various types of revolving credit accounts. Based on the customer's affordability and facility, loans may be topped up from time to time when various components of the loan have been paid, thus increasing the "open to buy" balance on the account.

Expansion into Africa

Innovent Rental and Asset management has expanded its business to Zimbabwe, Zambia and Tanzania, and Brazil is to follow soon. The Acquire Process Manager and Acquire Loan Management systems have been rolled out in these new countries and have proved to be very successful in assisting Innovent with disbursing loans and managing their rental book with little effort.

Application scorecard for SA Taxi

At SA Taxi Finance, the Acquire system is now used to manage the loan book for the bakkies sold at SA Taxi. Xpertek has developed an application scorecard for SA Taxi using Web Services. This development required changes to the SA Taxi processes as well as improved integration to credit bureaux. The Bureau Credit Characteristics (BCC) solution caters for New, Repo and Thin File segments. BCCs are the latest development in scorecard variables and provide significant improvement over the current Standard Bureau Characteristics.

SFI eVolve

Xpertek's new, improved payment switch, SFI eVolve, has now been implemented at the majority of SFI clients. Xpertek has implemented additional systems in South Sudan and Zambia.

Web Client

For those clients who have not been able to upgrade from the previous SFI version, Xpertek has also created a Web Client option, whereby those clients willing to make full use of the Internet can process all their bulk payments through the Web Client applications. This will allow a bank's client to upload a payment file, send it to the bank for processing and distribution to the various beneficiaries within minutes, via a secure front end.

Home loan finance - Zambia 2014

The new exciting Zambian Home loans project is soon to begin in 2014. Zambian Home loans will be using Xpertek's Acquire solution to manage its home loan business in Zambia. Xpertek is very excited about this new project, as it not only extends the company's product technology, but also extends its footprint in Zambia. More on this exciting project in 2014...

The Xpertek Group looks forward to 2014, when new and exciting challenges will unfold with new clients and within its existing client base.
