Financial software solutions firm National Cash Register (NCR) has introduced a new family of automated teller machines (ATMs) in SA, aimed at redefining the way consumers interact with ATMs.

The NCR is an American-headquartered ATM manufacturer with a presence in South Africa. The NCR SelfServ 80 Series is family of ATM solutions aimed at helping financial institutions transform their service offerings using the omni-channel, enabling local banks to deliver next-generation self-service banking.

The ATMs are equipped with built-in video banking, which enables financial institutions to offer high-touch, personalised services, where customers can be helped by a live teller right at the ATM. This allows financial institutions to extend their personal service offerings to include auto loans, and home loan applications, credit cards applications or deposits all conducted via the ATM.

"ATM is the ideal touchpoint to integrate physical and digital banking channels to create the connected experience that customers are looking for today," says Wael El Aawar, VP of Financial Services, Middle East and Africa at NCR.

"This launch fundamentally transforms the ATM to be perfectly aligned with how consumers want to bank and gives financial institutions a new way to realise omni-channel transformational strategies."

The NCR says it is currently the only company that offers video banking fully integrated into one ATM platform.

Through a unique combination of innovation across software, hardware, and services, consumers and financial institutions will gain many new benefits from this mobile-ready ATM solution. It encompasses a large 19-inch multi-touch display drives tablet-like interactions, where consumers can swipe, pinch and zoom their way quickly through transactions, adds NCR.

Unlike other regular ATMs, the family of NCR SelfServ 80 Series comes with an added feature of cash dispenser allowing customers to make deposits of up to 4 000 notes

In October 2017, Bank Audi - Lebanon's leading financial institution, became the first bank in the Middle East and Africa region to introduce the innovative NCR SelfServ 80 Series range.

"The ATM has a10-cassette cash dispense capability, lowering cash replenishment costs. Paired with the NCR CxBanking software suite, the SelfServ 80 series provides access across physical and digital banking channels, enabling nearly 700 million transactions daily across financial, retail, hospitality, travel, telecom and technology industries," says NCR.

The SelfServ 80 Series is available in select markets, including the US and Canada, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland, and will continue to be rolled out globally in 2018.
