Without a stable, reliable and secure network infrastructure, all efforts to modernise the data centre, leverage a multi-cloud strategy or even embrace digitalisation will fail.

So says Reshma Fynn, a shareholder and director at Blue Networks and Infrastructure (BNI), a recently formed start-up. A majority black women-owned business, BNI focuses on providing Cisco solutions to a growing cloud and digital market.

“The core focus for BNI will be the design, supply and support of network and related equipment and infrastructure for both the private and public sectors,” says Fynn. “We are currently affiliated to myriad international vendors in the networking industry and are working hard to gain the OEM certifications and qualifications required to elevate our partner status even further with a number of these partners, of which Cisco is one.”

Based in Midrand, Johannesburg, the company was formed through a strategic partnership between Diopoint, a 100% black women-owned electronic security and ICT provider, and Blue Turtle Technologies, an enterprise technology provider with a current 30% black shareholding.

“As a 67% black-owned business, we are considered an Exempt Micro Enterprise (EME), with a level two BBBEE status, which puts us in a unique position to be able to serve a corporate South Africa looking to raise their empowerment status,” she adds.

The company’s current vendor competencies include Cisco, HPE (Aruba), Krone and Molex – to name a few. Through ongoing support from its suppliers, vendor and distribution partners, the company is currently investing significantly into training and employing certified technical resources at all levels of the sales and technical lifecycle.

Fynn says BNI is already working with customers across all industries to deliver enterprise networking solutions that include routing, switching, wireless connectivity, security and collaboration, including voice and video. Its teams also assist clients with the design, supply and maintenance of data centres and physical cabling infrastructure.
